We here at booze and burgers love two things. It’s pretty obvious. Just look at the name of the site. If you’re still not getting it I’m amazed you’re able to read. We’re heavy drinkers. We’re meat eaters. We love bars and restaurants that combine both in copious amounts. We’ve got nothing against vegetarians or vegans (well, Derek does but he pretty much hates everything), but we love to sink our fangs into a well seasoned chunk of cooked animal flesh.
Our mission is to find the best burgers in Chicago, get loaded, and report back to you. We get no greater pleasure than sharing the best of the best with you (Jan gets a lot of pleasure from the smell of saw dust but that’s a different story). Use these reviews as helpful guide to finding the best meats and libations around.
Derek Dziak
Derek Dziak is a professional musician, actor, voice talent, writer, filmmaker and (it goes without saying) alcoholic, with a combined career spanning over a century. When not melting faces with pants filling guitar solos or dousing virgins in blood on a film set he enjoys a good whiskey, and washing it down with a burger.
He tends to stick to his Powers Whiskey, IPA’s, Malort, and anything shy of rubbing alcohol when those run out. He resides in Humboldt Park, Chicago, IL, and lives in constant fear for his life.
Jan Szpila
Jan Szpila is living tissue over a metal endoskeleton. He can’t be bargained with. He can’t be reasoned with. He doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop - EVER - until he has eaten every bar burger in Chicago.
Bourbons, stouts, and meat are Jan’s weapons of choice in the battle against The Hunger and The Thirst. He thinks that Malort tastes like Akron, OH. Currently he resides just over the border in Indiana and thoroughly enjoys the state’s lax firearms laws.
